Calla Lily

I was extremely excited when Eden Fantasys told me I’d be reviewing California Exotic’s Calla Lily. It is waterproof, has a rotating shaft, multiple speeds, with clitoral and G-spot stimulators. This toy sounds awesome but unfortunately it was quite the disappointment.

For starters, this toy confuses me. It’s a rabbit style vibrator, with a G-spot and clitoral stimulator while the shaft of the toy rotates. It sounds awesome, right? When I got the package and read the front and back of the box and it was all like “This toy is going to be awesome in your vagina. Get excited!” It even claims it is “Safe and pure.” Then I read the side of the box which states “This toy is for external use only.” Oh really? You mean this rabbit vibrator shouldn’t be stuck in my vagina? I then read the Instructions which once again say to use it inside me. Well what the hell am I supposed to do with this toy? So then I wondered if maybe this disclaimer was on all Cal Exotic products. Luckily, I still have the packaging for my $16.99 Cal Exotic Butterfly Kiss. There is no “Safe and Pure” label, but it also doesn’t say that it is for external use only. This makes me angry. I understand having to legally protect your company, but make all of the instructions the same please.

So how is it Safe and Pure? The Calla Lily is made of unscented TPR which is Phthalates free, Hypo-allergenic and Latex free. It is squishy and bendable while the material has a little bit of drag to it. The clear blue color is very pretty but unfortunately because it is clear, you can see some of the wiring.

I think this toy was probably great in theory, but failed in execution. It feels nice, it’s a pretty color but it just doesn’t work that well. The toy is 10 inches long, with a 4 inch circumference and an insertable length of 5 ½ inches. It is going to be way too long to stimulate most women’s G-spots and clitoris at the same time. The shaft needed to be 2 inches shorter for me. If you have a really deep G-spot this will probably work better for you than it did for me. Sadly, I could not use the clitoral stimulator at the same time I was stimulating my G-spot. This basically defeats the purpose of the rabbit design completely.

The rotating G-spot stimulator looks awesome when you turn it on. Just looking at it got me all worked up, only to find once it is inserted it has a much harder time moving around. The shaft of this toy rotates in 3 patterns. The tip of the shaft makes a come here motion, alternating semi and alternating full circles. There is a small bullet in the tip of the shaft to add vibration while it is rotating. It doesn’t move very well when it is inside me. I could feel it moving and it is nice, but not enough to rock my world.

I give this toy some credit for the clitoral stimulator. The clitoral bullet also has 3 vibration patterns. It flutters rapidly and is the biggest redeeming quality of this toy. I actually wound up giving up on using it as it is supposed to be used (or not supposed to be used depending on what instructions you follow) and turned it upside down. I placed the clitoral bullet against my clit and put the shaft against my ass.

The vibrator makes a weird dying buzz (it sounds like someone stepped on a robot cat). Obviously this isn’t very discrete… unless you own a robot cat. There are 2 bullets in the Calla Lily which probably contributes to some of the noise. The Calla Lily uses 3 AA batteries. I know this is silly, but it drives me crazy when toys use 3 batteries instead of 2 or 4. Anyway, the battery holder slides out of the bottom of the toy, making it easy to remove the batteries after every use.

The Calla Lily can be cleaned with soap and water or with alcohol as stated in the Instructions. You should wash it before and after every use. It is water proof, so there is no need to worry about destroying it while washing. The instructions state that you should use water based lubricant with the Calla Lily. Silicone lube would also probably be fine. I used a water based lubricant just because I prefer them.

Honestly, I really didn’t like this toy. (If that wasn’t already obvious) I tried really hard to make it work for me, but it just doesn’t. If you’re built like me and have a shallow G-spot, you are probably going to be very disappointed in this toy. I suggest using a toy to find your g-spot, place your finger on how far the toy is inside you and then measure it before you buy this toy. Even if you do have a deep g-spot, I don’t recommend buying the Calla Lily.
